Why are organisations not progressing gender equality through effective strategies and policies that prioritise women?

Women are still under-represented in enterprises globally, and numbers diminish as they rise through the organisational hierarchy to leadership positions. Barriers to progress include unconscious bias and discrimination together with gender-based social norms and work stereotypes, masculine corporate culture and inherent gender bias in recruitment and promotion.
