Sweef Capital has bolstered its team to support delivery of its deal pipeline of women-led businesses through mid-2024.

The Singapore-based impact investment firm this month announced the second investment of its Southeast Asia Women’s Economic Empowerment Fund (SWEEF) in USM Healthcare, the first company in Vietnam to locally manufacture critical cardiovascular products. SWEEF’s initial investment was in Vietnamese education technology company, TEKY. More deal announcements are pending.

Sweef focuses on high-growth, high-impact investments in healthcare, education, food systems, and climate resilience that will contribute positively to women and their livelihoods by tackling economic empowerment challenges facing women in Southeast Asia.

Underlining Vietnam’s importance in the firm’s investment strategy, Sweef’s Managing Director, Ms Jennifer Buckley, has announced the promotion of Ms Phuong Pham to the new role of Director, Vietnam.

Based in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms Phuong Pham has more than 20 years’ experience in investment management and advisory, corporate finance, and sales operations. She has been instrumental in developing Sweef’s Vietnam networks and deal flow, having originally joined the predecessor firm in 2008 and transitioning as part of the Sweef Capital team established in 2021. She was also instrumental in closing SWEEF’s first two investments in TEKY and USM Healthcare.

As part of this Vietnam team evolution, Ms. Trang Dinh will fully transition into her new role as the Vietnam Country Advisor within the Sweef Capital Advisory Network while retaining her role as part of the Sweef Capital Investment Committee.

The newest addition to Sweef’s team is Mr Ilman Dzikri, who brings experience across venture capital, strategic consulting, and youth empowerment.

Based in Jakarta, Mr Dzikri is transitioning from an internship with Sweef to the newly created role of Assistant Vice President, Indonesia. Since joining Sweef in mid-2023, Mr Dzikri has been working on deal execution in Indonesia and Vietnam and supporting pipeline development in Indonesia.

In other team developments, Ms Prina Dayal has joined the Sweef team as Impact and Stakeholder Engagement Analyst based in Durban, South Africa.

Ms Dayal’s qualifications encompass Environmental and Geographical Sciences, Media and Film studies. Her role involves supporting key aspects of Sweef’s strategy and operations, with a focus on impact measurement and management, communications, and stakeholder engagement.

Sweef is acknowledged globally as a pioneer and a catalyst in the way it combines private equity rigour with stringent impact measurement and management.

The firm’s innovative investment strategy has attracted a distinctive group of global Limited Partners keen to support women entrepreneurs and invest in the region’s huge untapped potential. Sweef also contributes to field-building activities through collaborative initiatives such as the Sweef Capital Gender ROITM tool, which aims to build a global evidence base over time.
