Six trailblazing Indonesian start-ups tackling environmental challenges using innovative, locally-grounded approaches, have been selected to be the inaugural KINETIK Sweef Fellows.
The announcement was made on Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (MSME) Day, a global celebration of the vital role small businesses play in job creation, economic growth and sustainable development.
The KINETIK Sweef Fellows will receive tailored technical assistance as part of the KINETIK Sweef Entrepreneurs Program.
The program, which is led by Sweef Capital in collaboration with KINETIK, the Australia Indonesia Climate, Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Partnership, is designed to support Indonesian SMEs in the green economy that are led by women or improve the lives of women.
The inaugural KINETIK Sweef Fellows are:
Waterhub
Waterhub provides water refill stations in businesses, schools and public areas to reduce the use of plastic water bottles.
Alner
Alner sells essential products such as rice and soap in reusable containers. Customers are given a cashback when they return the empty containers, providing a financial incentive for reducing waste.
Parongpong RAW Lab
Parongpong process everything from cigarette butts, nappies, wet wipes, fishing “ghost nets,” mortar packaging and paper mill dregs into innovative products such as durable building planks, serrated trowels and outdoor furniture.
Electric Wheel
Electric Wheel retrofits conventional motorcycles into hybrid vehicles to reduce emissions from urban transport.
Rezycology
Rezycology uses digital tools—such as an app and dashboard—to help waste collectors earn more, work more efficiently and get fairer prices.
Ternakin
Ternakin helps fish farmers grow healthier fish using smart sensors and digital tools, while connecting them to markets, financing and sustainable farming practices.
Each KINETIK Sweef Fellow will receive customised support across key areas including strategic planning, sustainability integration, impact measurement, gender inclusion, financial management, and leadership development.
This hands-on support complements the Fellows’ existing capabilities and helps strengthen their readiness for scale, particularly in sectors where environmental sustainability and inclusive economic development are closely intertwined.
Sweef Capital Managing Director Jennifer Buckley said there was no better time than MSME Day to recognise the impact of Indonesia’s small businesses.
“The KINETIK Sweef Fellows demonstrate the strength of Indonesia’s MSME sector in advancing practical climate solutions, inclusive business models, and locally rooted innovation,” Ms Buckley said.
“We are proud to work alongside these founders as they build resilient companies that are both commercially viable and socially grounded.”
Micro, small, and medium enterprises are the lifeblood of the Indonesian economy, numbering about 65 million and contributing more than 60 percent to Indonesia’s gross domestic product.
The KINETIK Sweef Entrepreneurs Program is one of the ways Sweef Capital is deepening its long-term commitment to enterprise growth in Southeast Asia, in collaboration with local partners.
